Now here’s an essay topic I would thoroughly enjoy. Compare/Contrast Troll by Shane Koyczan and Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou.

First, enjoy the videos of these spoken word artists and poets.

Now, just think about the similarities and differences …how each of these modern poets craft and perform such linguistically alluring words …how the topics are similar and different.  Consider the time period from which the emotions and situations were drawn. …Childhood, Adulthood, both?

Consider how each poet uses voice timber, emphasis, sharp clips, and languid sounds from the words themselves to poetically draw the reader or listener into the story.

These are masters of the spoken word/poetry, and the comparisons and contrasts are equally beautiful.

Yes. I would very much enjoy this Compare or Contrast Essay.

It certainly doesn’t hurt that both of these modern poets are very well-established pied pipers to their respective audiences. When these two pipe, we will all dance.
